A Note from Renita
Hello Goddesses,
One of the questions I receive from new supervisees is about our community presentations.
Many of you know that one of the final milestones in supervision is the opportunity for graduating Goddesses to develop and facilitate a continuing education presentation rooted in an area of practice, passion, or expertise.
These end-of-supervision CEU presentations are intentionally woven into our supervision model. While they provide continuing education for the larger social work community, they also serve as supervision hours for current Goddesses. In other words, you're not simply attending a CEU; you are witnessing the culmination of another social worker's supervision journey while continuing your own.
Over time, that vision has continued to grow.
In addition to learning from our graduating Goddesses, we also welcome alumni and guest presenters back into our community to share the unique paths their careers have taken. Whether someone is discussing the clinical licensing exam, practicing in rural Alaska, working in corrections, building a private practice, or leading innovative projects, each presentation expands our understanding of what social work can look like.
Today, our community includes more than two dozen clinically licensed social workers representing an incredible range of practice settings and professional experiences.
That is a rare gift.
Very few supervision experiences offer the opportunity to learn from this many clinicians, each bringing a different perspective, population, and professional journey.
You may never practice in corrections.
You may never work in tribal healthcare.
You may never relocate to Alaska.
But what a gift it is to learn from the people who do.
That is one of the greatest strengths of this community.
July Learning Opportunities
One of the greatest gifts of our community is the opportunity to learn from one another. I encourage you to be intentional about attending sessions led by our graduating Goddesses, alumni, and guest presenters whenever possible. Not every topic will become your specialty, but every presentation expands your understanding of what is possible within our profession.

Caring Across Cultures: Lessons from Rural Alaska

Most social workers will never practice in rural Alaska—but the lessons Brittany learned there have the power to shape how we think about culture, access, and equitable care everywhere.
Drawing from her experience working within a tribal-owned healthcare system, Brittany will explore how history, geography, and community influence the delivery of behavioral health services. Participants will also gain insight into the realities of practicing in remote communities, the adaptations required when resources are limited, and career considerations for social workers interested in salaried clinical practice.

Community Presentation
Sangine Howard, LICSW
From LMSW to LICSW: Reflections on the Clinical Licensing Journey

Current supervisees and alumni are encouraged to attend.
After successfully passing her clinical licensing examination this spring, Sangine returns to share her journey through the ASWB Clinical Exam. She will discuss her preparation process, lessons learned, strategies that helped her succeed, and words of encouragement for those preparing to take the next step in their own licensure journey.
Whether your exam is next month or next year, I encourage you to attend. Learning from someone who has recently completed the process can help reduce anxiety, increase confidence, and remind you that this milestone is within reach.

Please continue sending me the dates you plan to attend throughout the month so I can reserve your spot.
As a reminder, all community presentations count as supervision hours for current Goddesses. These presentations are intentionally built into our supervision model and are an opportunity to continue learning from clinicians who have recently completed the very journey you're on.
You will still have plenty of opportunities to complete your required supervision hours throughout the month.

If your employment has changed from what was originally submitted to the Alabama Board of Social Work Examiners, please let me know as soon as possible so we can ensure your supervision documentation remains current.
A quick email is all I need, and we'll make sure your records stay up to date.

Together we explored the intersection of social work, symbolism, storytelling, and reflective practice while discovering new ways to deepen our work with ourselves and those we serve.
