A Note from Renita
Hello Goddesses,
Today I found myself thinking about a few of the Goddesses in our community and the passion they have for specific areas of practice.
Maybe you've heard me say this before, but as many of you are preparing to renew your licenses ~ whether for the first time or the tenth time ~ I believe there is something to be said for being intentional about the CEUs you pursue.
It can be tempting to simply register for whatever is free or whatever happens to show up in your inbox or social media feed. There is certainly nothing wrong with free education, but I want to encourage you to think a little differently.
What if the CEUs you are already required to complete became part of a larger professional development plan?
What if each training helped you move closer to becoming an expert in an area of practice that truly matters to you?
Social work is an incredibly large playground. We are trained as generalists and exposed to countless populations, settings, and interventions. It is easy to spend years moving from topic to topic, going wherever the wind blows.
But there is something powerful about choosing a lane and developing depth.
One of the Goddesses who immediately comes to mind is Chandreka Williams, LMSW.
This month, Chandreka will graduate from supervision and present a CEU training on Ethical Treatment of Sex Offenders. Chandreka is a Georgia POST-certified Correctional Officer, and I have known for nearly a decade that ethical, quality care for justice-involved individuals is not simply a professional interest for her – it is a calling.
Her upcoming presentation is a beautiful example of what happens when passion, education, and experience come together.
As you continue your own professional journey, I invite you to think about the populations, problems, or practice areas that keep calling your name. Then allow your CEUs, trainings, reading, and professional experiences to support that growth.
You already have to earn the hours.

Celebrating Sangine Howard, LICSW
Please join me in celebrating Sangine Howard, LICSW, who successfully passed the clinical examination during the last week of May .
I cannot say this enough:
From May 2025 through May 2026, fifteen (15) Goddesses passed their clinical licensing exam.
Fifteen.
With more than twenty-six clinically licensed social workers now represented within our community, the level of knowledge, leadership, mentorship, and impact being cultivated here is truly extraordinary.
That is world-changing wealth.
That is world-changing impact.
Sangine and I are currently finalizing a date for her return to the community, but if you have ever had the opportunity to hear Sangine speak, you already know this will be both an informative and entertaining celebration.
We are incredibly proud of you, Sangine .
Congratulations on this well-earned achievement.

One of the greatest gifts of our community is the opportunity to learn from one another. I strongly encourage you to be intentional about attending sessions led by our graduating Goddesses and community members whenever possible. Not every topic will become your specialty, but every presentation expands your understanding of what is possible within our profession.

Every Behavior Tells a Story: Understanding Adolescent Mental Health

Current supervisees and alumni are encouraged to attend.
Working with adolescents often requires us to look beyond behaviors and ask deeper questions about what those behaviors may be communicating. In this presentation, Katrena will explore ways helping professionals can better understand the realities facing today's youth and approach adolescent mental health with greater curiosity, compassion, and clinical insight.
Rather than viewing young people through a "back in my day" lens, participants will be encouraged to consider the unique challenges adolescents face in today's world and how we can meet them where they are.
This presentation will be especially valuable for social workers, counselors, educators, and anyone working directly with children and adolescents.
