  • Capricorn Full Moon | Find the Wisdom of the Pause

Happy Full Moon in Capricorn, Goddesses.

She's beautiful tonight. I hope you take a moment to go outside and see.

I began my day, as I always have consistently begun my Mondays, slowly and with great intention; however, in the back of my mind, I was feeling overwhelmed by a day that felt too full.

Still, I pressed forward and made my way to a local library, determined to complete a goal I had set, a joyous goal, but a goal nonetheless. So very Capricorn.

The library was super noisy, and on any other visit I would have been prepared, but this time I'd forgotten my headphones. Pressing forward again, I thought I was prepared to journal. I had grabbed not one but two pens to write with and threw them in my bookbag.

Both pens ran out of ink mid-journaling.

As the safety and the coolness of the library welcomed more and more people (usually very quiet on a Monday morning), I literally could not hear myself think.

As the time approached for my midday Monday Reiki appointment, I decided to leave. Afterwards, I chose to return to a different library, climbed to a quiet place, and suddenly my life simplified.

This Capricorn Full Moon arrives as three planets pause before changing direction. As I sat in the quiet of that second library, I realized my morning had become its own lesson. The astrology wasn't asking me to push harder (again, very Capricorn). It was inviting me to pause before the next movement.

Find the wisdom of the pause before the next movement.

Before life moves forward, the sky invites us into the sacred work of "re."

Not because we've failed.Or that we are behind. But because wisdom often arrives the second time we look.

    Mercury Retrograde begins today

What am I being invited to reconsider?

    Neptune

(slowed down in the sky, retrograde begins – July 7th)

What am I being invited to reimagine?

    Saturn

(slowed down in the sky, retrograde begins – July 26th)

What am I being invited to recommit to?

Today I didn't linger in a place that wasn't supporting what I needed. Although in the past, I would have tried to push through. Today I left without abandoning my intention. I simply found a better environment for it.

And because the place changed, my capacity to hear myself returned.

The goal never changed. The place did.

If the astrology invited me to pause, Tarot invited me to listen.

If you have a tarot or oracle deck, this is your invitation to pause and pull alongside me.

(Afro Brazilian Tarot Deck by Alice Santana and Giuseppe Palumbo)

Beneath the deck waited the Queen of Wands.

She is barefoot, dancing among three candles as flowing golden fabric catches the wind around her. She is passionate, vibrant, and alive, but what I love most is that she isn't dancing for an audience. She is dancing because it brings her joy.

The Queen of Wands reminds us that pausing isn't the opposite of vitality.

    It is what protects it.

Before anyone else delights in you…Can you delight in yourself?

    Simply because you're alive.

    Because movement itself feels good.

As you reconsider, reimagine, and recommit, don't lose the part of yourself that dances simply for the pleasure of it.

    Mercury Retrograde

What am I being invited to reconsider?

    The Emperor

When I first turned over the card, I actually thought it was the Knight of Swords. The figure dressed in blue appeared to be charging up a mountain with determination. It reminded me of Capricorn energy ~ the drive to climb, accomplish, and conquer.

Then I realized it was The Emperor.

Mercury retrograde isn't asking me to push harder. It's inviting me to reconsider what success with my voice actually means.

As someone whose Mercury is being opposed and deeply activated by this Full Moon, I found myself asking:

Is this even a mountain I want to climb anymore?

Somewhere along the way, I picked up the idea that my voice needed to accomplish something ~ to teach, to prove, to establish credibility. Mercury retrograde has me wondering if it's time to reconsider my relationship with my own voice and how I use it to define success.

Can I spend less energy trying to prove my voice and more energy simply using it?

Then I look over at the Queen of Wands ~

Together, these two archetypes are asking:

Can I write because I love writing? Can I speak because I love speaking?

Capricorn is often associated with climbing mountains. But a Full Moon is a moment of culmination ~ a chance to stop, look around, and ask whether the mountain you're climbing is still yours.

Not every mountain deserves the rest of our lives.

Some mountains were only meant to teach us how to climb.

    Neptune

What am I being invited to reimagine?

    Three of Wands

I smiled as soon as I turned this card over.

For me, the Three of Wands has always been vision board energy. I've hosted vision board gatherings for over a decade now. Dreaming about what life could become is familiar territory.

But this version of the card grounded me.

Instead of gazing toward a distant horizon, she kneels among three ancient trees. At the base of each tree sit offerings. She isn't striving. She isn't planning. She is in relationship.

    That shifted something in me.

Perhaps Neptune isn't asking me to dream bigger.

Perhaps Neptune is asking me to dream differently.

I've always been good at creating a vision and then asking myself, "How am I going to make this happen?"

This card invites a different approach.

What if I stopped asking, "How am I going to make this happen?" and started asking, "Who, or what, is inviting me to create this?"

What if I invited Spirit into the imagining before I worried about the outcome?

What if the vision wasn't something I accomplished alone, but something I cultivated in relationship with God, with creation, with my Beloved ancestors, with the quiet wisdom that already surrounds me?

Maybe this season isn't about creating a better vision board.

Maybe it's about beginning with relationship and allowing the vision to emerge from there.

    Saturn

What am I being invited to recommit to?

    Queen of Pentacles

It made me smile to see the Queen of Pentacles appear again. She visited me just a few days ago during my Saturn practice, and here she is once more under a Capricorn Full Moon. It feels fitting as Saturn is the ruler of this Full Moon. Of all the Queens, she carries some of the strongest Capricorn qualities: stewardship, cultivation, consistency, tending what matters, and building a meaningful life through daily practice.

I have always seen the Queen of Pentacles as the Proverbs 31 Woman.

One of the ways I am recommitting to this energy is through one of my favorite morning practices.

Each day I read Proverbs 31:10–31 aloud ~ but I read it in the first person.

    Instead of reading,

"She is clothed with strength and dignity,"

    I say,

"I am clothed with strength and dignity."

Instead of reading about a woman of noble character, I say, I am a woman of noble character.

That small shift has changed the way I hear the passage.

The Queen of Pentacles reminds me that the life I want is built through the practices I return to again and again.

As I looked back over the spread, I realized each card had offered a different invitation.

The Emperor invited me to reconsider whether this is even a mountain I want to climb anymore.

The Three of Wands reminded me to invite Spirit into the dreaming, not just the doing.

The Queen of Pentacles invited me to recommit to the practices that continue shaping the woman I am growing into.

    And beneath them all…

The Queen of Wands never stopped dancing.

Perhaps that's the greatest reminder of this Capricorn Full Moon.

    As you reconsider.

    As you reimagine.

    As you recommit.

    Don't forget to dance.
